County of Grande Prairie announces new Infrastructure Technology Grant

Sep 24, 2025 | 6:00 AM

The County of Grande Prairie has announced a new grant to support small and medium businesses to upgrade their infrastructure.

The Business Retention and Expansion Grant- Infrastructure Technology provides a total of $26,000 in annual funding through a matching fund of up to $2,000 per year.

The funding will assist with technology-related infrastructure improvements such as broad band upgrades, point-of-sale systems, industrial automations and other critical digital tools.

This new program reflects council’s ongoing commitment to offering effective programs that support local businesses and help them stay competitive in an increasingly digital economy. We know that technology upgrades can be a major investment for small businesses. By offering targeted investment in infrastructure, we’re working to reduce barriers and promote long-term economic sustainability in the County. Bob Marshall, Reeve for the County of Grande Prairie

The program was developed as a direct response to insights gathered through the county’s annual business Retention and Expansion Surveys.

Our goal is to make it easier for businesses to grow and modernize, especially in rural areas where infrastructure challenges can be more pronounced. This grant is a practical tool to help address those gaps while also reinforcing our role as a responsive and supportive partner to the local business community. Jordan Tidey, Director of Economic Development for the County of Grande Prairie

Applications for the grant open October 11.
