Trial dates set in sexual assault case

Alberta Justice says trial dates have been set for a Grande Prairie man charged in a sexual assault case.

The trial for is set for November 16-20, 2026.

He was charged in May of this year with assault, two counts of sexual assault and sexual exploitation, along with other charges.

Grande Prairie RCMP said at the time of his arrest they had received reports of sexual offences that had allegedly taken place between August and December of 2024 involving an underage victim.

A second man had been accused of being a party to the sexual assault, but that charge was withdrawn in July.

We are not releasing the names of the accused because of a court ordered publication ban that prohibits the release of any information that could identify the victims.

Guilty plea, trial date set, and charges withdrawn for one accused

Alberta Justice says one accused has had a trial date set in one case, pleaded guilty to a related charge and had his charges withdrawn in another matter.

Christopher Lindgren will stand trial in April on charges related to an incident in July.

RCMP said at the time on July 15 this year, they saw someone bound by court orders operating a stolen truck. Police attempted a traffic stop, but the driver sped away. A suspect was arrested near Clairmont Lake while trying to spray paint the stolen vehicle.

Lindgren also pleaded guilty to a related charge of failure to comply. Five similar charges were withdrawn.

As well, all charges against Lindgren related to a June incident involving a stolen truck have been withdrawn.

The cases against two others remain before the court.

Conditional sentence order in stolen property case

Alberta Justice says a man charged in a stolen property investigation that started in the B.C. Peace has pleaded guilty to one charge.

Corbyn John Hubley admitted to possession of stolen property over $5000 in Grande Prairie court.

He was given a 15-month conditional sentence order. These sentences are served in the community under conditions rather than in jail.

RCMP said at the time on January 11, 2023, they were told about a car that had been stolen in Fort St. John and had been used in break and enters there and in Dawson Creek.

Mounties spotted the same car parked at a Grande Prairie motel. The vehicle was searched and a suspect was arrested.
