County of Grande Prairie Council Candidate Profile: Cindy Trudel

Sep 25, 2025 | 4:38 PM

Cindy Trudel, is one of 19 residents running for a County Council position.

She was asked to answer the following four questions with a 600-word limit.

1. What has inspired you to run for mayor/council/school trustee in the Oct. 20, 2025, municipal election?

I was on Town Council in Wembley for 7+ years prior to moving to Clairmont. I am the current President for the Clairmont and District Agricultural Society. I enjoy being involved in the community and having prior experience on the Council, I decided to run in this election. I did run 8 years ago but unfortunately did not get in, HOWEVER I feel that more people in the community know who I am and what I stand for in this election.

2. What skills or experience do you have that you feel would make you a good fit for the role?

Being a volunteer with the AG Society has been a great experience and it also has opened my eyes to what our community needs/wants. I have a lot of experience in leadership roles and also a lot of education in how to be a leader, volunteer and a good spokesperson.

3. What do you feel are the key or main election issues in your community, and what are the issues of priority for you?

I feel that our community is left behind at the county level, sometimes, and I feel like a strong voice at the council table will bring more recognition and attention to the needs/wants of the community. Communication is also an issue within our Hamlet. I plan on being very transparent and will be updating the community on social media as well as in person.

4. Where can people learn more about you?

I do have a Facebook page and also I would not mind at all if people called, texted or emailed me.
