The NWP Wolves continued their inaugural golf season over the weekend at the ACAC Golf Championship hosted by Alberta Springs Golf Resort near Red Deer, and brought home some hardware.

NWP’s Men’s Team took home third place overall, finishing with a collective +49 through three rounds, missing a second-place finish by only eight strokes.

On the Women’s individual side, NWP’s lone competitor, Emily Rathbone, claimed 7th after shooting +63, through three rounds.

In the Men’s individual, the Wolves had two athletes finish in the top 10, as Sean Tomkins fired home a gross score of +10 to claim tenth, while Austin Guttinger had a weekend, finishing -15 to take the title as Men’s ACAC Golf Champion.

Alongside his ACAC Championship, Guttinger took home the ACAC’s Most Outstanding Player award and Rookie of the Year.

The highlights didn’t stop there on the men’s side, as NWP’s Austin Winia finished 23rd, shooting +29, but shot a hole-in-one during his opening round at Alberta Springs’ 8th hole, par three.

The NWP golf team is now ranked seventh in Canada, and will next be in action over Thanksgiving long weekend in Medicine Hat for the CCAA Golf National Championship at Desert Blume Golf Club.
