City of Grande Prairie Council Candidate Profile: Lynn Hoddinott

Sep 29, 2025 | 1:51 PM

Lynn Hoddinott is one of over 20 residents running for a City Council position.

She was asked to answer the following four questions with a 600-word limit.

1. What has inspired you to run for mayor/council/school trustee in the Oct. 20, 2025, municipal election?

I am a long term resident of Grande Prairie. I raised three children here and now we are invested in another generation with two grandchildren.

It is now my time to give back to the community that has blessed me and my family so richly. Over the years I have been drawn to the idea of running for a council seat but family life and work have taken much of the time that I would feel necessary to give to the community. I am excited about the prospect of devoting my efforts to this community and being a voice for working families like mine.

2. What skills or experience do you have that you feel would make you a good fit for the role?

My skill set is varied. I devoted much time to raising my three children but over the years I have worked in sales, retail and management. Work experience asside, it is my desire to support and better this community that will be Grande Prairie’s biggest asset.

3. What do you feel are the key or main election issues in your community, and what are the issues of priority for you?

I feel the biggest election issue is affordability. Living costs are higher than ever and continual tax increases are having a toll on many of us in the community. We need to make it our priority to keep costs and taxes as low as possible. We need more financial efficiency in day to day operation of our city. Crime is also a major issue. Let’s find a way to clean up the streets of Grande Prairie and get our small town vibe back again!
