Court date set for Red Deer woman convicted of murdering a Grande Prairie man

Alberta Justice says a sentencing date has been set for a Red Deer woman convicted of murder after the death of a Grande Prairie man.

Brianna Ruf-Deitz will learn her sentence on March 6, 2026, in Edmonton Court of King’s Bench.

She was convicted of second degree murder in early September after the death of Tyler Johnson in March of 2021 in Maskwacis.

His body was found in a burned-out home.

Time served sentence after assault with a weapon investigation

Alberta Justice says a Clear Hills County man has been given 90-days time served in jail after what RCMP described as an assault with a weapon earlier this year.

Luke Anderson pleaded guilty to charges of possession of a prohibited firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm September 24 in Peace River court. Fourteen other charges were withdrawn.

He was given a 90-day sentence on the first charge and a 60-day concurrent sentence on the second one. He had enough credit for time already spent in custody on these charges that the sentence became time served.

Anderson was charged after a May incident. Fairview RCMP said at the time they got a report of an assault with a weapon and a suspect was identified.

This led to a search of some RV’s and vehicles on a property near Bluesky.

Mounties seized five firearms; two of which were sawed-off shotguns, a crossbow, small amounts of drugs, ammunition, and $3,200 cash.

Jail sentence in stolen property case

Alberta Justice says a Grande Prairie man charged in a stolen property cases has pleaded guilty and been given a jail sentence.

Quinton Di Guistini pleaded guilty to possession of stolen property under $5,000 and failure to comply with a release order charges on September 22 in Grande Prairie court. Two other charges were withdrawn.

He was given a 120-day sentence to cover all charges. Credit for time already spent in custody means he has 15 days left to serve.

Grande Prairie RCMP said at the time on July 15, 2025, a driver was taken into custody after they saw a stolen truck being driven recklessly through the city.

Charges withdrawn in assault, robbery case

Alberta Justice says charges that included assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, and robbery with a firearm have been withdrawn in Peace River court.

The charges against Chaos Daryl Ghostkeeper were withdrawn earlier in September in Peace River court.

Ghostkeeper had been arrested on outstanding warrants for these charges on January 29 near Simon Lake.

Police were called out to a report of suspicious person hiding in a vacant building.

Peace Regional RCMP said at the time the suspect would not comply with police orders and was arrested with the help of police dog Peyak.
