Worker death results in fine for local business

Sep 30, 2025 | 9:00 AM

A local company has been given a fine after the death of a worker in 2022.

North West Crane Enterprises Ltd. pleaded guilty to an Occupational Health and Safety Code charge of failing to ensure that equipment or material that could dislodge or move did not pose a danger to workers on Sept. 23 in Grande Prairie court.

A release from the province says the business has been handed a $210,000 fine and placed on enhanced regulatory supervision for 18 months.

The worker died near Clairmont on August 22, 2022.

That same release says the worker was “struck by a boom that was sitting on a non-certified pipe stand when the stand collapsed.”

The Crown and the business can file an appeal within 30 days.
