NWP announces new Bachelor of Education degree for post-secondary educators

Northwestern Polytechnic has announced its new program to train future junior high and high school teachers.

Officials say the Bachelor of Education – Secondary degree program emphasizes work integrated learning to prepared graduates to thrive in diverse school environments.

This announcement is a milestone for both our institution and our region,” states Dr. Vanessa Sheane, NWP President and CEO. “Education plays a vital role in shaping vibrant, resilient communities. By offering a Bachelor of Education –Secondary right here in the Peace Country, we are helping students stay closer to home while preparing to make a lasting impact in local classrooms.”

Officials note, the program is the eighth new program announced by NWP over the past three years, including the Bachelor of Education – Elementary, Bachelor of Business Administration, and Bachelor of Computing Science.

“Our degree programs have been designed with regional demand in mind,” adds Dr. Jodi Schultz, NWP Vice-President Academic. “Students gain hands-on experience through early industry placements and graduate ready to step into the roles where they are needed most. This latest degree will strengthen the talent pipeline with focused secondary teachers, who will excel in areas like mathematics, sciences, and English.
