Voter information for 2025 Grande Prairie Municipal election

Oct 6, 2025 | 1:15 PM

The City of Grande Prairie’s 2025 Municipal Election is only two weeks away.

Advanced voting polls will open starting Thursday, Oct. 9 until Saturday, Oct 11 at the Teressa Sergeant Hall from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; this will then be offered again the week before the official election on Monday, Oct. 20.

To vote, either ahead of time or on election day, residents will need to be at least 18, a Canadian citizen and a resident of Grande Prairie.

Voters are also asked to bring a valid piece of ID showing their name, a photo and a city address; however, if you pre-registered on the Permanent Electors Register, a government-issued ID with only a name and photo will suffice.

On election day, Monday, Oct. 20, each neighbourhood in the city will have its own poll station, with 16 in total, which residents can find on the City’s website.

This year, eight people are vying for Mayor, while 25 are campaigning for eight councillor vacancies:

This year, ballots will be counted by hand again, so residents can expect results to be announced not as quickly as previous elections.

On voting day residents will also cast their ballot for school board trustees, for a number of different districts including Grande Prairie Public and District Catholic.
