Village of Berwyn Main Street Project receives provincial recognition

Oct 7, 2025 | 12:48 PM

The Village of Berwyn is being recognized for it’s Main Street Revitalization Project.

The project was selected for the Building Economic Strength Category though the 2025 Minister’s Awards for Municipal and Public Library Excellence.

“Our downtown area has become an inviting space for people to gather, and it reflects the pride we have in our community,” explains Nicole Johnson, Village of Berwyn Mayor. “We are very proud to see our community recognized at the provincial level, and we share this award with our residents and thank them for their patience throughout the process.

The revitalization project was completed in August 2024, transforming Main Street with new pavement, gutters, sidewalks, benches and flower boxes to create a safer and more welcoming downtown area.

In a congratulatory letter to council, Alberta’s Minister of Municipal Affairs Dan Williams wrote:

“I commend you on your efforts to revitalize Main Street by upgrading infrastructure, enhancing safety and accessibility, and improving the appeal of the village’s core commercial area.

The award recognizes municipalities and libraries that demonstrate excellence and innovation in serving their communities and feature the award recipients in a video series on the Minister’s website.
