County launches new Business Incentives Program

Oct 8, 2025 | 12:31 PM

The County of Grande Prairie has launched a new Business Incentives Program for companies that build or expand in the county.

The program was created through a new Business Incentives Bylaw and gives two types of support:

The Sector-Based Tax Exemption gives businesses property tax reductions on non-residential and machinery and equipment assets, while the Infrastructure Incentive offers a property tax exemption over five years and covers up to 25 per cent of county infrastructure upgrades.

“We want to grow our local economy and create good jobs,” says Reeve Bob Marshall. “This new program will provide meaningful support to businesses by lowering their costs and showing them that the county is a great place to invest.”

“The Business Incentives Program opens up a new way of working with investors,” said Jordan Tidey, the County’s Director of Economic Development. “It sets us apart, helping to attract projects that will bring jobs and long-term value to our region.”

To qualify, businesses must align their practices with the program’s guideline, including ensuring the right permits are set up and municipal taxes and bylaws are complied with.
