County of Grande Prairie Council Candidate Profile: Carrie Hogg

Oct 9, 2025 | 4:34 PM

Carrie Hogg is one of four Division 5 residents running for a County of Grande Prairie council position.

1. What has inspired you to run for mayor/council/school trustee in the Oct. 20, 2025, municipal election?

Running for County Council is a serious decision. I made this decision because my heart lies in Rural Alberta, mainly the County of Grande Prairie. This is where I live, work and play and where I believe a strong Council can move the County forward in a productive manner. I have always been a strong advocate for the community I live in and I want to do my best to see that the communities in the County of Grande Prairie continue to grow. I worked and volunteered with many different businesses and organizations in the City and the County of Grande Prairie and feel I will bring experience and expertise to the council.

2. What skills or experience do you have that you feel would make you a good fit for the role?

I have training in leadership and conflict resolution, I have worked the front lines, doing intakes, activity planning, fundraising, case management and working with families. I have honed my skills in client meetings, documentation, working on boards, research and building relationships with communities and their services. I am a professional who is able to work in a collaborative and creative approach with a desire to strengthen community ties.

3. What do you feel are the key or main election issues in your community, and what are the issues of priority for you?

The main issues in Division 5 that I have heard are: roads (calcium, gravel and pavement), some would like to see a few more streetlights for safety, Taxes with a 2.4% increase last year, and family recreation, keeping it affordable.

4. Where can people learn more about you?

The humorous side of me wants to say, “in the Hamlet of Hythe”, where you can usually find me Monday through Friday, even though I live in Division 5.

From a professional level, Community mindedness is at the centre of my existence, the area where I live is where I work to improve the communities. I am a founding member of Helping Homeless Restart Society, do intake for the Hythe & District Food Bank, Board Chair for SPRCL, and manage/volunteer for the Hythe Royal Canadian Legion.

From a personal level family is everything. I also like to have fun by raising and working with my horses, doing wagon/sleigh rides, camping, playing my guitar, swimming, gardening, quading, snowmobiling and hunting.

My heart and soul are in Rural Alberta and that is why I live here, work here and play here.

All of the above is why I live and work in Rural Alberta. My goal is to see the County continue to grow and flourish. I am determined to work hard with the council to make sure these goals are met.
