Highway 40 between Grande Prairie and Grande Cache closed due to semi rollover

Update at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 9, 2025 – – Grande Prairie RCMP would like to advise the public that Highway 40 has reopened for travel and thanks the public for their cooperation

As of 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, Grande Prairie RCMP said they were on scene of a single vehicle roll over on Highway 40 near Township Road 695A, halfway between Grande Prairie and Grande Cache.

The semi-truck driver was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Mounties say the clean up is expected to take hours and there are no detour routes available.

Highway 40 in both directions will not be open for road users until emergency crews are finished clearing the scene.

An update will be given once the highway is open.
