Peace River Forest Area wildfire danger level still high

The wildfire danger level in the Peace River Forest Area remains high with a fire advisory in place.

Under this advisory, safe campfires are allowed and existing permits are still valid, with new permits issued on a case-by-case basis.

Residents are also being reminded of fall fire safety, as despite colder temperatures, dry vegetation can spark and a fire can spread quickly.

Locally, the wildfire danger levels in both the Grande Prairie and High Level Forest Areas are currently low to moderate.
