City of Grande Prairie begins annual tree pruning program

Tree pruning is set to take place in Grande Prairie this fall and winter.

The City of Grande Prairie prunes trees in local parks annually to protect them from diseases like Dutch elm and ensure the long-term health of the city’s canopy.

The work is done in the fall and winter period when elm bark beetles are dormant as crews work along boulevards, streets and in parks on a rotating schedule.

It’s expected to go from October to April 2026.
