Local school divisions posting recommendations for parents as school resumes Wednesday

Oct 28, 2025 | 2:37 PM

Local school divisions, like others across Alberta, are getting ready for classes to start again on Wednesday.

Grande Prairie & District Catholic Schools says in a letter to parents that buses are scheduled to run.

The division also recommends parents with questions talk to the school principal or their child’s teacher.

A post on the Grande Prairie Public School Division website contains links to both with a letter from Premier Danielle Smith and a news release from the Alberta Teachers’ Association.

The ATA says it is pursuing what it calls “legal alternatives.”

Smith’s letter says the province is looking at building or modernizing 130 schools in the next five years, forming a task force on classroom sizes, and new policies on violence in classrooms.

The Peace Wapiti Public School Division has included some reminders for parents in a letter posted to its website.

The division says lunch programs may not be available right away and that schools will “communicate further details once they have been sorted out.”

Peace Wapiti is also asking parents to make sure their kids are dressed warmly as the weather is cooler now, and that if the kids took home any gym clothes or indoor shoes, they should bring them back to school.
