Bird flu found in some wild birds in Grande Prairie says city hall

City Hall says avian influenza, also known as bird flu, has been found in some wild birds in Grande Prairie

A direct notice sent to people living in the Trumpeter Village and Crystal Landing neighbourhoods says the disease was confirmed in what it calls “a limited number of wild geese.”

The city is asking people not to handle a dead bird.

Instead, they should call 311 so it can be picked up by city staff.

The city is also recommending kids and pets be kept away from birds that might be affected or where birds have died.

More information can be found on the city’s website.
