Fire Advisory lifted for County of Grande Prairie

Oct 31, 2025 | 3:24 PM

The County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service has lifted its fire advisory due to cooler temperatures.

Effective 3:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, the advisory is lifted for the entire county, including the Towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith and Wembley.

With the seasons changing, the county says it will not be placing any further advisories as the fire danger in the region is now low.

The fire department in the city has also lifted its fire advisory, also because of the rain and cooler temperatures.

The wildfire danger rating in the Grande Prairie Forest Area is also now low.

Wildfire season ends November 1. That means permits to conduct burning are no longer needed.

Residents are asked to check any burn piles from last winter and ensure they are fully extinguished, as buried embers can still reignite in the spring and summer.
