Grande Prairie’s Oliver Dawson has been picked to represent Canada at another international event.

The members of the Piranhas Swim Team is one of 12 athletes that will be on the Canadian swim team at the Commonwealth Games.

They will take place from July 23 to August 2, 2026, in Glasgow, Scotland.

Dawson has represented Canada at several international events, most recently at the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup 2025 short-course event in Toronto.

Dawson finished ninth in the men’s 100 metre breaststroke and 12th in the 50 metre breaststroke.

In July, Dawson was part of the bronze medal-winning team in the Mixed 4 x 100 metre Medley Relay at the World Aquatics Championships.

Two of his teammates from that relay, Olympic medalists Kylie Masse and Josh Liendo, are also on the Commonwealth Games team.
