Grande Cache Community Health Complex ED finds weekend coverage

UPDATE:

AHS is reporting that the ED disruption for this weekend is now cancelled, as physician coverage has been secured.

The Grande Cache Community Health Complex Emergency Department will be without a physician all weekend.

Starting at 8 a.m. today (Friday, November 7), the ED will be without an on-site physician until Monday, November 10, at 8 a.m.

Nursing staff will remain on site for urgent triage, assessments and referrals.

The Virtual Emergency Physician coverage is also being piloted at the Grande Cache ED, and may be available for all or part of this advisory.

Anyone with an emergency can still call 911 as calls will be rerouted to neighbouring communities, including Hinton and Grande Prairie.
