Nov 7, 2025 | 2:36 PM

Statistics Canada says the unemployment rate for the area that takes in the Peace Country was at six per cent in October.

That is down from 6.9 per cent in September.

The area that goes from Banff and Jasper, through the Peace, and up the boundary with the Northwest Territories had the second-lowest unemployment rate in Alberta last month.

The only one lower was the Camrose-Drumheller region at 5.5 per cent.

The highest was Lethbridge-Medicine Hat at 8.6 per cent.

Across Alberta, the unemployment rate was at 7.8 per cent in October, the same as it was in September.

Full-time employment went down by 2900 jobs, but part-time employment went up by 13,300 jobs.

The industries adding the most jobs across Alberta last month were wholesale and retail trade, information, culture and recreation, and public administration.

The three areas that lost the most jobs were educational services, health care and social assistance, and finance, insurance, real estate, rental and leasing.
