Officer involved shooting in Grande Prairie Monday

Nov 11, 2025 | 9:13 AM

RCMP in Grande Prairie will be under the microscope of Alberta’s police watchdog following an officer involved shooting on Monday, November 10.

The incident happened at 1:32 p.m., when Mounties got a domestic call for service that turned into a car chase after attempting to pull the related vehicle over.

The vehicle left the road during police pursuit and flipped onto it’s roof.

The suspect exited the vehicle and an altercation between them and police took place, where at least one officer discharged their service weapon and struck the suspect.

There is no official word on the state of the suspect after being struck.

In compliance with legislative requirements, the Director of Law Enforcement was notified immediately as well as the deployment of ASIRT to conduct an independent investigation.

RCMP says incidents like this are difficult for all involved and they believe in accountability and transparency and will fully cooperate with ASIRT.

Independent of ASIRT’s investigation, the RCMP will do an internal review to gather a full account of what happened during the incident. RCMP training, policy, police response, and the officer’s duty status to be subject to review.
