Slave lake RCMP make arrests in drug trafficking investigation

Slave Lake RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit arrested two people Thursday while investigating alleged drug trafficking.

The CRU, with assistance from the Slave Lake RCMP General Duty members, executed a search at a residence in Slave Lake and arrested two individuals while seizing several items, including 14 bags of methamphetamine, one baggie of heroin and other drug paraphernalia.

30-year-old Shelby Carifelle of Peavine Metis Settlement faces three charges:

  • Possession of controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of controlled substance
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

32-year-old Joey Bigstone of Slave Lake faces one charge:

  • Possession of break and enter tools

Carifelle and Bigstone were released on conditions and will appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Slave Lake Dec. 10, 2025.
