Village of Berwyn council gives readings to new Code of Conduct and Access to Information bylaws

Nov 17, 2025 | 1:29 PM

Council for the Village of Berwyn has approved readings of multiple bylaws that aim to better align with provincially set standards.

On Nov. 13, council passed all three readings of Bylaw No. 726 to remove the Village’s previous Code of Conduct Bylaw.

The change was brought about after the province updated the rule for municipalities, now requiring communities to follow provincial standards instead of maintaining their own bylaws.

During the meeting, all three readings were passed by for the new Access to Information Bylaw 727 to replace Bylaw 722, the village’s former Freedom of Information and Privacy Bylaw, to set out how access requests will be handled.

The bylaw is being replaced to align Berwyn’s procedures with the province’s new Access to Information Act.
