Top Crop Summit coming to Grande Prairie

Nov 19, 2025 | 11:25 AM

An agriculture conference that’s been held annually in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan for over a decade is making it’s inaugural debut in Alberta on Thursday, Nov. 20.

Grande Prairie is set to host the first edition of the Top Crop Summit in the province as they look to expand the conference across western Canada. It will take place at the Holiday Inn & Suites in Grande Prairie from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Interested producers will get the opportunity to hear from nine passionate keynote speakers.

Kaitlin Berger with Top Crop Manager says there was sound reason as to why they decided to expand to northwestern Alberta.

“There’s a lot of (ag) events in Edmonton and south of Edmonton, so we wanted something that was accessible to farmers and other in industry in northern Alberta and B.C.”

Topics like current crop markets, operational strategies, canola production, and more agronomic topics will be discussed.

Berger says they wanted to bring something that was applicable to the challenges that growers are facing in our region.

“All of the speakers are focused on how you can deal with disease, the conditions in northern Alberta.”

Speakers will discuss shorter growing seasons, variable soil conditions, and drought, according to Berger.

She says she is excited to see the expansion of Top Crop Summit into Alberta, specifically in the Peace Country with it being a large center for agriculture and ag research.

The 2025 Alberta Top Crop Summit is approved for CCSC-CEUs and 4.5 CCA-CEUs in the categories of nutrient management, soil and water management, integrated pest management, crop management and professional development.
