High Level RCMP make arrest in drug trafficking investigation

High Level RCMP have made an arrest in a drug trafficking investigation at an apartment complex.

On Nov. 19, Mounties spotted a suspect allegedly in the process of a suspected drug transaction. Police say they apprehended the suspect after they attempted to flee.

According to RCMP, a search incidental to the arrest revealed approximately 65 grams of cocaine and the execution of search warrants on two units in the complex which led to the seizure of 32 tablets of oxycodone, over 100g of cannabis and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old resident of High level is facing five charges:

  • Trafficking cocaine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2)
  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling
  • Resist police officer

The suspect was brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in High Level Dec. 8.
