Hockey, curling, speed skating on this weekend

Storm

The Storm play their lone home game of November Friday night.

Grande Prairie will host Canmore. Face-off time will be 7 p.m. at the Bonnetts Energy Centre.

The Storm are fifth in the North Division with 19 points, one back of Bonnyville and four points up on last place Devon.

NWJHL

There are two games in the Northwest Junior Hockey League Friday.

Fort St. John will be in Beaverlodge and La Crete visits Sexsmith.

Saturday, the Wheat Kings will be in Sexsmith.

All those games start at 8 p.m.

Also on Saturday. La Crete in Fairview for a 6:30 p.m. face-off.

NPHL

There are two games in the North Peace Hockey League Friday

Dawson Creek will travel to Valleyview and High Prairie will be in Manning.

There are three games on Saturday, including Fort St. John in Grande Prairie, Spirit River in Fox Creek and Valleyview in Falher.

All games start at 8:30 p.m.

Curling

The Peace Curling Tour continues in Dawson Creek this weekend.

The 53rd annual Mile 0 Cash Spiel will start on Friday and run through Sunday.

This will be the fourth of five tour events.

Grande Prairie will host the next one Jan. 16-18, 2026.

The Peace Tour Championship will take place Jan. 30 to Feb. 1 in Sexsmith.

Speed Skating

Speed Skating Alberta’s short track circuit will stop in Grande Prairie on Saturday.

Racing will start at 9:45 a.m. at the south rink at the Design Works Centre and continue throughout the day.

Spectators are welcome. Admission is free.

Athletes from Grande Prairie, Peace River, Fort St. John and Yellowknife are among those taking part.
