Grande Prairie MLA responding to recall petition

Nov 24, 2025 | 4:33 PM

Grande Prairie MLA Nolan Dyck says the recall process is not meant to address political disagreements.

Dyck is one of nine UCP MLAs now facing recall petitions approved by Elections Alberta.

Six more MLA’s facing recall petitions were announced on Monday.

Those latest MLA’s being cabinet ministers Rajan Sawhney, Myles McDougall, Dale Nally and RJ Sigurdson.

They also target Ric McIver, Speaker of the house, and Muhammad Yaseen, associate minister for multiculturalism.

If all nine MLAs are defeated in constituency votes, the UCP would lose majority status.

You can read a statement from MLA Dyck sent to the Pattison Media newsroom below:

“The recall process should not be used to overturn democratic elections just because an individual disagrees with government policy. Recalls are meant to address breaches of trust, serious misconduct, or a sustained failure to represent constituents, not political disagreements.”

“Our United Conservative Caucus remains focused on what we were elected to do, which is standing up for Albertans by growing our economy, lowering taxes, and creating opportunities.”

“I am fully committed to being accessible to all 46,000 constituents. For example, I met Casey Klein in person on August 25 and responded to her multiple emails within three business days.”
