Province announces new incentive to attract teachers to northern Alberta
The province says it is changing an incentive meant to attract young teachers to northern Alberta.
It is replacing the Northern Student Teacher Bursary Program with the Northern Alberta Teacher Award.
According to provincial officials, new teachers selected through an application process would be eligible to receive $9000 after being a full-time teacher for two years and $18,000 after three years.
Applicants must be a Canadian citizen, in their last year of a Bachelor of Education program or in the second year of a Bachelor of Education After Degree and be in a program that is in demand in northern Alberta.
