Unemployment rate for area that takes in the Peace Region drops in November

Statistics Canada says the unemployment rate for the area that takes in the Peace was at 5 per cent in November.

That is down from 6 per cent in October.

The unemployment rate for all of Alberta was at 6.5 per cent in November, down from 7.8 per cent in October.

Unemployment by number of people was down 37,200. The size of the labour force dropped by 8500 people.

The average weekly wage was $1413.75.

The fastest-growing sectors for jobs last month were health care and social assistance, accommodation and food service and educational services.

Stats. Can also says that sales and service occupations, jobs in education, law and social, community and government services and occupations in manufacturing and utilities were the three areas that had the best employment growth year-over-year.

The unemployment rate across Canada in November was also at 6.5 per cent.
