Freezing rain expected in Peace Region

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) predicts freezing rain will make it’s return one last time in 2025 in the Peace Region.

A yellow warning for freezing rain has been expanded to include areas surrounding Grande Prairie Wednesday morning (Dec. 31). The weather alert also includes Beaverlodge, Grovedale, Valleyview, Fox Creek, Whitecourt, and Edson.

The widespread freezing rain is expected to start later in the morning or in the early afternoon. It is expected to create slippery conditions on roads and sidewalks.

Motorists are reminded to please be careful and maintain a safe following distance while travelling in these conditions.
