Grande Prairie Public Library launches 2026-2030 Plan of Service

Jan 5, 2026 | 2:04 PM

The Grande Prairie Public Library has launched a new five-year road map to strengthen its role as a space to learn, connect, and belong.

The 2026-2030 Plan of Service outlines four strategic priorities the library will focus on over the next five years:

  • Increase Awareness & Visibility — ensuring residents know what the library offers and how to access its services
  • Grow with the Community — adapting spaces, services, and collections to meet changing community needs, including exploring a new service point
  • Build Community Connections — positioning GPPL as a hub for belonging and inclusivity through targeted programming, expanded volunteer opportunities, and partnerships
  • Collaborate to Bridge Gaps — working with funders and community organizations to expand impact and avoid service duplication

Officials say the plan was developed through surveys, consultations, and workshops to reflect the voices and values of residents and respond to emerging trends like population growth, increasing diversity, mental health and accessible technology.

“At its heart, this plan is about people — protecting a space where curiosity is encouraged, barriers are reduced, and everyone in our community knows they belong,” says GPPL Director Hailey McCullough. “I’m grateful so many people took the time to share their thoughts with us so we could build something meaningful together.”

The plan was approved by the GPPL Board in September 2025 and guide decision making, service development, and partnerships.
