New platform to “improve the chances of pets being returned home” debuts in the Peace

Jan 6, 2026 | 6:00 AM

Grande Prairie Regional Enforcement Services and the GP Pound are rolling out new resources to help pet owners looking for lost animals.

24PetConnect will now act as a centrilized data base for lost and found animals around the Peace region.

Through the site, residents will be able to create missing pet posters, and will be sent an email alert when an animal is found matching your pets desrciption.

Residents will also be able to view pets currently being held at the regional pound “for the first time ever,” according to Helen Napier, Managing Director of GPES.

“That level of transparency helps pet owners act quickly and gives them reassurance during what can be an anxious time.”

Moving forward, the Superintendent of County Regional Enforcement Services says this new platform will improve the chances of pets being returned home.”

He adds that it will also make the process easier for everyone by bringing all the information together in one place, instead of calling the pound or scrolling through social media pages.

Anyone wanting to access 24PetConnect, can do so by following a link on the County’s website.
