Alberta RCMP issued 998 tickets over the holidays

Almost a thousand traffic-related tickets were issued by Alberta RCMP during the December holidays.

Of the 998 tickets issued, 242 were for speeding, 31 for distracted driving and 21 for seatbelt infractions.

121 drivers were removed from the roads for being impaired due to drugs or alcohol, including 80 who failed their Immediate Roadside Sanctions.

Seven fatalities were reported as a result of six fatal collisions due to road-related incidents, while 99 non-fatal injury collisions were also reported.
