Storm beat Thunder at AJHL Showcase, other local sports for Wednesday

Storm

An Ethan Kronewitt goal at the 3:01 mark of the first overtime period gave the Storm a 5-4 win over Drayton Valley at the AJHL Showcase in Edmonton.

Braeden Veldhuizen and Connor Frost each had a goal and two assists for the Storm. Colin Doherty had a goal and an assist.

The Thunder held a 3-1 lead at one point in the second period. Grande Prairie came back to tie the game by the end of the second.

The Storm then took a 4-3 lead in the third before Drayton Valley scored with just under two minutes left in the game to force the extra session.

The Storm are on the road for two games this weekend. They are in Lloydminster on Friday and Bonnyville on Saturday.

NWJHL

There is one game in the Northwest Junior Hockey League Wednesday night.

Peace River will travel to Beaverlodge.

Face-off time will be 8 p.m.

Ski Hills

Nitehawk ski hill is open from 5:30-9:30 Wednesday night. The Tube Zone is closed.

Fairview Ski Hill is open from 6-9 Wednesday nights.
