Village of Berwyn taking on MD of Peace as new water operator

The Village of Berwyn is changing water operators.

At their meeting Tuesday, Village council approved proceeding with an agreement with the Municipal District of Peace to provide Berwyn’s water operation services once the agreement with the Town of Grimshaw expires.

Council says the MD has extensive experience with the Village’s system and will support a gradual transition of operations to Village staff.

Public Works employee Cole Cardinal will work with the MD water operator and begin pursuing formal certification in the spring.

Council has also directed administration to provide the Town of Grimshaw with the required 90-day notice of contract termination.
