Second suspect in Calling Lake armed robbery apprehended

Mounties in Wabasca say they have arrested and charged the second person involved in an armed robbery earlier this week.

On Monday Jan. 26, RCMP responded to a report from the victim of the incident taking place. The victim’s vehicle was stolen after being held at gunpoint by two individuals.

Police were able to locate the stolen vehicle with the suspects inside. Officers had a firearm pointed at them by the passenger and police were able to successfully deploy a tire deflation device in the community of Calling Lake.

The male driver fled from the scene after the vehicle came to a stop, but the female passenger was arrested without incident.

The Alberta RCMP Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services, and Crime Reduction Unit were called in to track the male suspect but searches turned up unsuccessful.

The female passenger, was arrested and charged on 14 offences, including:

  • Robbery with firearm
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possession of firearm while prohibited (x2)
  • Failure to comply with probation (x4)
  • Other firearm-related offences (x4)

She was remanded into custody and had a court date on Jan. 28 in Slave Lake.

The male driver was eventually located on the Bigstone Cree Nation on Jan. 28 after police received information of his whereabouts.

Wabasca officers responded and arrested 28-year-old Calling Lake resident Jamie Elroy Noskiye without incident.

Noskiye was searched at the time of his arrest and was found to have:

  • 44 grams of methamphetamine
  • 8 grams of cocaine
  • Multiple varieties of pills

He was additionally charged with five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking on top of 11 charges stemming from the armed robbery, which included:

  • Robbery with firearm
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possession of firearm while prohibited (x4)
  • Failure to comply with release order
  • Failure to stop
  • Other firearm-related offences (x3)

Noskiye was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody, and is to appear in High Prairie court on Feb. 2, 2026.
