NWJHL playoffs start, Storm game, in local hockey Wednesday

The NWJHL playoffs start Wednesday night when the Wheat Kings travel to Beaverlodge.

Face-off time will be 8 p.m.

Game 2 will take place Saturday at the County Sportsplex.

Two other series will start on Friday, with Fairview in Fort St. John and Dawson Creek in Peace River.

Saturday, Fort St. John will be in Fairview and Peace River in Dawson Creek.

All these games will start at 8 p.m.

Sexsmith will be in La Crete for Game 1 of their series Saturday night at 7 and Game 2 Sunday afternoon at 1:30.

All the opening round series are best of fives.

Storm

The Storm visit Devon Wednesday night.

Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.

Grande Prairie has won nine of its last 10 games, with the only loss coming in a shootout.

The Storm are second in the North Division with 56 points, five back of first-place Whitecourt and four up on third-place Lloydminster and Fort McMurray.
