NWJHL playoffs continue this weekend

The Strike Group North West Junior Hockey League has started the first round of playoffs.

The County of Grande Prairie Wheat Kings kicked off their series against the Beaverlodge Blades with a 5-3 win Wednesday (Feb. 4) night. The Wheat Kings are 1-0 in the series heading into weekend play.

Other series have the North Peace Navigators against the Dawson Creek Kodiaks, the Fairview Flyers versus the Fort St. John Huskies, and the Sexsmith Vipers playing the La Crete Lumber Barons.

All four playoff matchups will play a pair of games over the weekend:

• Friday
  • Kodiaks @ Navs – 8:00 p.m.
  • Flyers @ Huskies – 8:00 p.m.
• Saturday
  • Vipers @ Lumber Barons – 7:00 p.m.
  • Blades @ Wheat Kings – 8:00 p.m.
  • Huskies @ Flyers – 8:00 p.m.
  • Navs @ Kodiaks – 8:00 p.m.
• Sunday
  • Vipers @ Lumber Barons – 1:30 p.m.
  • Wheat Kings @ Blades – 4:00 p.m.
