Aquatera launches new Battery Donation Program

Feb 9, 2026 | 2:34 PM

The Peace Region will have another avenue of recycling old batteries without harming the environment, and proceeds from collection will support local community organizations.

Aquatera says it is launching its new Battery Donation Program, in partnership with ABC Recyclers.

Batteries collected through the program in Aquatera’s service area will then be “responsibly recycled,” and four community organizations will benefit by receiving $500 to support the work they do.

The non-profit organizations are selected from communities served by Aquatera, including the City and County of Grande Prairie, as well as the towns of Sexsmith and Wembley. Categories for the groups include environment and natural spaces, youth, education, active living, community, waste reduction, and water conservation.

Organizations that fit these parameters are encouraged to apply by March 31, 2026, to be considered for funding. Four recipients are selected annually, with quarterly donation periods taking place in January, April, July, and October.
