City Hall flags fly at half-mast for Tumbler Ridge shooting victims

Feb 11, 2026 | 12:51 PM

Flags at City Hall and other municipal government facilities across the Peace Region have been lowered to half-mast to honour those affected by the Tumbler Ridge shooting.

Mayor Jackie Clayton says, “our hearts are heavy today as we hear the devastating news out of Tumbler Ridge, Schools should always be safe places for learning, friendship, and community. To see a community facing such a tragedy is deeply heartbreaking.”

Clayton adds that the City of Grande Prairie stands with the families, students, staff and first responders.

County Reeve Amanada McDonald joined Clayton’s sentiment, saying “we grieve with our neighbours and stand in solidarity with the community of Tumbler Ridge as they cope with this devastating tragedy, and we will continue to offer support as needed during this time,” in her own statement.

More updates are expected as this story develops.
