Fatality in Grande Prairie following shots fired report

Grande Prairie RCMP says an individual was found dead in the city’s Montrose neighbourhood following a report of shots fired overnight.

The report was received just after midnight on Wednesday (Feb. 11, 2026) in the area of 112 Avenue and 96 Street.

Mounties and Grande Prairie Police Service members attended the scene and located a deceased male.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit have been called in to take over the investigation.

Police officers remain in the area as they conduct an investigation and are asking the public to avoid the area.

RCMP believes there is no ongoing danger to the public.

An update is anticipated once more information is released by the authorities.
