Educators sending advice to parents after Tumbler Ridge shootings

Feb 13, 2026 | 6:02 AM

Education officials have been sending parents letters, offering advice on how to talk to their kids about the shootings in Tumbler Ridge.

A letter from the principal of the Bridge Network Outreach School in Grande Prairie offers a list of things parents can do if their children have questions.

That includes validating feelings, using plain language in conversations, maintaining routines and reassuring kids that they are safe at school.

The letter also says that parents staying calm will help kids do the same.

The Bridge Network has social workers and counsellors available for its students.
