Trial dates set in child exploitation case

Alberta Justice says trial dates have been set in a child pornography case.

The trial for Daniel Emond is set for June 29 to July 3 in Edmonton Court of King’s Bench.

The one-time peace officer charged with accessing and distributing child pornography.

ALERT said at the time that an arrest was made on September 21, 2023, in an investigation that had started in January of the same year.

ALERT says it was looking into the sharing of what it calls “child exploitation materials” through social media.

 Jail time in drug arrest

Alberta Justice says a Peace River woman charged in a Grande Prairie drug case has been given jail time.

Rosanna Vivian Carifele pleaded guilty to charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and flight from a peace officer February 9 in Grande Prairie.

She was given a 17-month jail sentence on the first charge and a concurrent three-month sentence on the second.

Several other changes were withdrawn.

RCMP said at the time that on February 20, 2025, a vehicle took off from a traffic stop.

The vehicle was located later and the driver, who had several outstanding warrants, was arrested.

A search of the vehicle turned up methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Conditional sentence order for one accused in shots fired incident in High Level

Alberta Justice says one of the four people charged after a 2024 shots fired incident at a High Level convenience store has been given a sentence to be served in the community.

Joey Nanooch was given an 18-month conditional sentence order after pleading guilty to three weapons charges and a single count of possession of a controlled substance February 2 in High Level court.

He was one of four people charged after an incident on June 27, 2024.

High Level RCMP said at the time that just after noon that day, they got a report of what they called “multiple shots fired” at a convenience store.

Mounties also said that witnesses told them that two vehicles fled from the scene.

One of the vehicles was pulled over in a traffic stop, and all occupants were taken into custody.

A search turned up cocaine, a loaded, prohibited firearm, ammunition and brass knuckles.

Another person charged, Cornell D’Or, also pleaded guilty to firearms charges last August and was given a 913-day jail sentence, minus 410 days’ credit for time spent in jail before trial.

Another accused, Patrick Nanooch, pleaded guilty to one charge last February and was given a fine.

Charges against the fourth accused, Kassidy Sewepagaham, were withdrawn last March.

Charges withdrawn in Loon Lake fire-related arrest

 Alberta Justice says all charges against a Trout Lake woman charged after a structure fire in Loon Lake have been withdrawn.

 The charges against Reba Lynn Noskiye were withdrawn February 3 in Red Earth Creek court.

 Noskiye was charged after a fire in a public works building in Loon Lake on October 12, 2025.

 The building was destroyed.

 Noskiye had been facing charges that included causing damage to a structure by fire, break and enter and mischief over $5000.
