Cold warning expanded to include Grande Prairie area

A yellow cold warning issued by Environment Canada has expanded to include Grande Prairie and the surrounding area.

Wind chills of minus 40 are occurring this morning and will return again tonight (Thursday, Feb. 19) for many regions in Alberta.

Wind chills are expected to moderate Friday afternoon (Feb. 20) for much of the province.

Extreme cold puts everyone at risk, with frostbite able to develop within minutes on exposed skin.

Please layer up when going outdoors and take frequent breaks from the cold if you are outside for a prolonged period of time.
