City of Grande Prairie accepting applications for Vandalism Recovery and Prevention program

Feb 24, 2026 | 6:01 AM

Applications are open for the City of Grande Prairie’s new Vandalism Recovery and Prevention program.

Approved at the City Council meeting last week, the pilot program will offer reimbursement of up to 50 per cent to help cover removal expenses and enhance protection against vandalism for local businesses.

“Vandalism has real impacts on local businesses and on the community as a whole,” said City of Grande Prairie Mayor Jackie Clayton. “This pilot program provides practical support to help businesses recover and reduce the risk of future damage. At the same time, addressing vandalism is a shared responsibility, and we remind all residents and businesses to report concerns when you see them so we can all do our part to protect the spaces and services we all rely on.”

To be eligible for the program an applicant:

  • Must be a commercial street-level business.
  • Must hold a valid business license and be in good standing with the City.
  • Must provide proof of vandalism (e.g., police report, photos, etc.).
  • Must not have received other municipal funding for the same repairs.
  • The applicant is the property owner or a tenant designated by the property owner to complete the grant program application.
  • Preventative projects must demonstrate a clear link to reducing vulnerability to vandalism.
