Peace Regional RCMP arrest suspect with help from community member

Peace Regional RCMP have recovered a stolen vehicle, thanks to the help of a Grimshaw community member.

Mounties were notified about a vehicle theft on Feb. 12, while it was parked outside of a business near 99 Ave in Peace River.

The next week, on Feb. 17, a community member noticed a suspicious vehicle in the back alley of a residence in Grimshaw and confronted the driver; the resident reported this to police, and Mounties confirmed it was the same stolen vehicle.

While responding to the call, the community member located the stolen vehicle again at a business near 54 Avenue, this time abandoned.

Police Dog Services was then disptached and with help from local businesses’ security footage, a suspect was brought into custody on three charges; Possession of property obtained by crime, over $5,000, causing a disturbance, driving while unauthorized and driving an uninsured vehicle.

In a release, RCMP gave thanks to local businesses and community members for assisting in this investigation.
