Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital ED without physician for 12 hours

Feb 26, 2026 | 11:15 AM

The Emergency Department at the Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital will temporarily be without an on-site doctor for a 12-hour period overnight.

There will be no physician in the ED from 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February, 26, to 8:00 a.m. Friday, February, 27.

Nursing staff will remain on site in the ED to provide triage, assessments, and referrals for patients to go to alternate ED’s in neighbouring communities if needed.

911 will still be available if people are experiencing a medical emergency, and will be rerouted to the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital.

Virtual Emergency Physician coverage may be available for all or part of this service advisory. The Virtual Emergency Physician program uses an experienced ED physician to remotely support facilities temporarily without available on-site ED physician support. This off-site virtual physician can collaborate with local staff, speak with patients, order tests and medications, and transfer or discharge patients.

You can also call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7 for non-emergency health-related questions. Depending on your needs, people may also be aware of services available through local pharmacies.
