City Centre Crane work delayed to snow squall

Feb 26, 2026 | 6:00 AM

UPDATE:

Crane work set to take place in Grande Prairie City Centre this morning was delayed due to the snow squall.

Originally, 100 Ave was to be reduced to one lane near 100 Street, potentially causing delays at the main 100 Ave 100 Street intersection from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Now, the EGP Newsroom has reached out to the City for an updated timeline, but has yet to hear anything back.

 More updates are expected

The City of Grande Prairie says residents travelling along 100 Avenue in City Centre will see some delays this morning (Thursday, Feb. 26).

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., 100 Ave will be reduced to one lane near 100 Street, as crews need room to conduct crane work.

The City says the project could cause short delays and affect traffic at the main 100 Ave-100 Street intersection.

During the work, transit will be redirecting stops 302, 402, and 802 to the Towne Centre Mall, while a detour will be in place for pedestrians; people may also be asked to wait while the crane lift is conducted.

The City notes that clear signage, physical barriers, and guides will be in place during the work to ensure safety, and all businesses can operate as normal.
