Feb 27, 2026 | 6:02 AM

Aquatera Utilities Inc. is being recognized as a leader in responsible battery recycling.

Aquatera has been chosen as one of the recipients of the 2025 Leaders in Sustainability Awards.

Presented by Call2Recycle Canada, the award is recognizing Aquatera for their participation in the Recycle Your Batteries, Canada! program, collecting more than 5,502 kilograms in the back half of 2025.

“2025 was a milestone year for the Recycle Your Batteries, Canada! program, driven largely by the continued leadership and collaboration of partners like Aquatera across the country,” said Joe Zenobio, President and CEO at Call2Recycle Canada. “Organizations like Aquatera play a critical role in strengthening Canada’s battery recycling system. We are pleased to recognize their commitment to sustainability and their efforts to advance Canada’s circular economy.”

“Environmental stewardship is core to Aquatera’s purpose of Growing Healthy Communities,” added Vaughn Bend, Chief Executive Officer of Aquatera Utilities Inc. “This recognition reflects the dedication of our team and the residents we serve, who continue to make responsible recycling a priority. By working together, we are helping divert hazardous materials from landfills and strengthening Canada’s circular economy for future generations.”

Aquatera says it started its battery collection initiatives in June 2025, which makes this accomplishment particularly noteworthy.
